Patterned Party

I saw this card using Patterned Party done quite some time ago by Jen Tinko of Stampin on the Fly.  It's a fun stamp set that colors up quite nicely with markers.  I changed the colors, ribbon and sentiment.

To choose my colors, I used the Color Coach .  It's a great tool if you need help picking colors that really work together.
It has become a valuable tool and I use it often.  However, when I went back to get the name of the person I cased from, I came across another card done in the very same colors and ribbon I did mine in!!  Oh well...you never know, maybe they used the Color Coach too!

Here's a little info on the Color Coach.  You can get add ons for all the In Colors.

Stocking Die - Penguin Punch Art

No stamps used in the construction of this project!!

An adorable gift card holder designed by another Stampin' Up! demonstrator, Michelle Suite, using the Stocking Die.   She provided a video on a demonstrator website making construction quick and easy.  Thank you Michelle for your generosity!  It folds at the top; opens from the bottom and inside is a flap where you can insert a gift card.

My little penguin is made from the owl punch and a 1" circle punch.  Isn't he cute?!

The snowflake is one of the dies from the Snowflakes Set #2 and the silver glimmer paper.  Unfortunately, Stampin' Up! has just announced the dies are no longer available as the manufacturer has discontinued them.

Texture is added to the stocking with the Snowburst Embossing Folder and the Stripes Embossing Folder.  You can get the Stripes folder free as one of the options in Sale-a-bration that starts Jan. 24.  For every $60 you spend you can choose a Sale-a-bration item for free!!  It's coming up quickly!!

Have a blessed Christmas!

Lovely As A Tree - Inviting

Lovely As A Tree is a very loved stamp set!    My background stamp set is Woodgrain and suits the Lovely As A Tree set.  This is a really warm and inviting card!!  There is some sparkle on the main tree that you can't see, but it is really pretty.  I used a glue pen and dazzling diamonds glitter.  The sentiment is from Introducing.  My little bow was made with some retired real red taffeta ribbon.

This card of course was used as an invitation, but I also made a bunch with "Thinking of You" on the front to be used as a more general card.  I think the always artichoke and real red look great together!

Christmas blessings,

Dasher - Embossed Ribbon

Very Vanilla and Early Espresso were used on this elegant Dasher image.  I used both heat embossing and dry embossing.  My Very Vanilla ribbon was glued onto a piece of card stock and passed through the Big Shot.  It's a fun and easy technique!  Glimmer brads and the Northern Flurry decorative strip were used for the snowflake.

Christmas blessings!

Snow Much Fun - Two Tags Die

Inspired by a tag I saw on Splitcoast.  I used all Stampin' Up! products and added some detail.  These tags can be used for gift boxes, gift bags, scrapbook pages or on cards.

Stamp set is Snow Much Fun; sentiment is from Delightful Decorations.

Rick Rack is from the Tasteful Trim die.  Ribbon is Cherry Cobbler Quilted ribbon tied together with retired sparkly trim (that I can't remember the name of!!

All the pattern paper is from Frostwood Lodge DSP from the 2011 Holiday Mini.
Dazzling Details was added to the snowball, hat band and buttons.  Rhinestones, of course, adorn the sentiment.

Have fun creating super cute and easy tags using Stampin' Up! products.

Christmas blessings...

The Sounding Joy - Snowburst Embossing Folder/Pewter Embossing Powder

I really like The Sounding Joy stamp set...it makes me want to sing Christmas carols!!  This is a workshop card I did; nice and easy!  The pewter embossing powder is quite nice on a card and goes nicely with the silver card stock and antique brads.

Fa la la la la, la la la la!

Christmas greetings!

Punch Art Duck - Playful Polka Dots

How fun is this little punch art duck?!  Made with the Playful Polka Dots Simply Scrappin' Kit from the 2011 Summer Mini...I made this in the summer; just a little slow in uploading it my blog!  All the embellishments are from the kit.  I love this little duck!

Now, if I recall correctly the punches used were:
Ornament punch; 1 3/4" scallop circle; boho blossoms; large oval; small oval for the lower part of the mouth.
Colors:  Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie

Next post will suit the season a little more!!

Snowburst Christmas - Snowburst Embossing Folder

This card was designed by Andrea Walford, a Canadian papercrafter.  Andrea provided step by step instructions for this card, which made is easy and fun.  There is a lot of sparkle to this technique.  Craft white ink was used to rub over the embossed piece, sprinkled with Iredescent Ice and heat embossed.  The colors and sparkle are so pretty!

Great design Andrea!!

Frostwood Lodge - Box In A Bag

This project starts out with a 4 1/2" square piece of card stock to make a small box base.  Use your favourite DSP (Frostwood Lodge from Holiday Mini used here) for the "bag" portion.  I made a few and filled them with coffee beans, nuts and chocolate using the medium sized cello bags on page 181 of IB&C.

My flower was made using the Blossoms Petal Builder punch.  I saw a video on YouTube by Create with Dee showing how she ran it through the Big Shot after assembling.

Tall one is using 6 1/2" DSP; small one uses 5 1/2" DSP.  Woodgrain background stamp was used on the scalloped border and Round Tab Punch handles.

It's a perfect time of year to start working on your Christmas cards and 3D projects!!  Order your supplies on-line through my Stampin' Up! website

or call me directly! (807) 735-3336  I will assist you with Stampin' Up!'s wonderful product line or with any projects you have in mind.

French Foliage - Joseph's Coat - Slider Card

A fun card!!  This is a slider card.  Pull the tab at the top and it opens at both the top and bottom!!  A strip of recycled shopping bag is the trick to this card.

The technique for the focal piece was very cool too.  It's called Joseph's Coat, an emboss resist technique, using glossy card stock and clear embossing powder.  I followed the instructions of a Stampin' Up! demonstrator France Martin for this technique.

This is how the card looks open!

Ink Colors:  Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive, Daffodil Delight and Early Espresso.
Paper:  Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, Glossy Card Stock
Stamp Set:  French Foliage and  Posy Punch

It is still fall, so my French Foliage card is still appropriate; however, it's hard to tell these last few days with snow on the ground!  Here's hoping for some more seasonal weather in the forecast!

Thanks for stopping by!

Elements of Style and Mocha Morning

I love how this card turned out.  I had made a 12 X 12 DSP purse and wanted to make a card to match.  I ended up giving the purse away, so there is no picture of it.  I'll just have to see if there is another piece in that pack of paper that will be suitable for another purse.

So crumb cake and basic black were the only two colors used.  I didn't realize until I was making the card that the paper and the stamp set co-ordinate!  So I used the flourish part of the stamp on a little corner of the inside.  The vintage wallpaper embossing folder was used on the black background.  The hummingbird is clear embossed.

Other embellishments are the crumb cake seam binding ribbon, vintage brads and the eyelet border punch.

Ladybug Olivia

Happy 2nd Birthday Olivia!!

I wanted to make a card with a ladybug for my granddaughter's 2nd birthday.  Once I got the ladybug made it was harder to pull the card together.  I thought this was okay until I uploaded the photo and thought it just doesn't look right.  I think it's because the ladybug is disproportionate to the little pinwheel.  So I'll have to go back to the drawing board to design another.

However, I don't think Olivia minded at all how the card looked.  It was filled will more than adequate amounts of love from her Gramma and Grandpa!!  LOVE YOU OLIVIA!  Happy Birthday!!

Happy 7th BIrthday Liam!!

My oldest grandson turned 7 today!!  Hope you have a fabulous day Liam!!

His favourite thing now is Lego.  Several months ago I mailed all of my daughter's childhood Lego to him and his brother.  I think it has provided his mom with many hours of peace and quiet!

His mom made him a Lego invitation, so I made a Lego birthday card.  The worker was clip art I printed off the computer and the blocks of course were made from card stock and a 1/2" circle punch.  Sponge the edges, add dimensionals and you are done.  I used some retired colours; Yo Yo Yellow, Glorious Green, Brilliant Blue.  Real Red was also used.  This is about as simple as punch art gets!

Happy Birthday to Liam!  Tomorrow it's your sister's day!

A CASE of Ice Cream Parlor!

I was wanting to use up some retired Designer Series Paper (Ice Cream Parlor) and after searching examples, I came across one by Carroll Ann (her blog is Carroll's Corner and goes by mrsboz on splitcoast) using Ice Cream Parlor.  It was bright and cheery and fit the need!!  My card is pretty much the same as hers; I changed the butterfly (Bold Blossom - now retired), sentiment (Short & Sweet) and side piece (Tasteful Trim die).  I tried several base colors and just kept coming back to her original card. So yellow it is!

I made several and gave them away with orders.

Scrapbook Layout - Quilting Technique with Cheerful Treat

Scrapbook Layouts by Stephanie Wright, Aug. 2011

This is a sample layout I used to demonstrate during my Quilt In A Day card class; page made by my daughter.  I wanted to show that the technique could also be used in scrap booking.  In the first photo I made a 6 X 6 piece using the quilt technique and Stephanie cut it down to use as her first panel.  The DSP I used was Cheerful Treat DSP and you can earn it free with your hostess dollars for hosting a qualifying workshop!!

She continued the color combo and papers onto her second layout using a leftover piece of the quilt and an additional border piece using the Tasteful Trim Big Shot die.
Her title was made using a retired Stampin' Up Alphabet set.

Other embellishments adorn the page and were made from:  Daisies #2 die; Circle Circus stamp set, Button Buddies stamp set and Designer Buttons.

Here is the layout that she used; Dec 2008 Page Maps

Bookmarks - Delicate Doilies

One of the 4 designs of bookmarks I made as "take one's".  Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo and So Saffron are the ink colors used.
Delicate Doilies is available in wood and clear mount and three of them co-ordinate with punches!  Doily Triple Layer, 1 3/4" Circle and 2 1/2" Circle.  I used a retired slot punch at the top to thread the ribbon.

Love & Care.....and the WINNER IS......

I am happy to announce the winner of my Mining for Memories Red Lake Convention Blog Candy Winner is DRUM ROLL.......

Mary Lou!!!

To enter, convention goers had to post a comment to my blog with the phrase "Mining for Memories"  Mary Lou said "I had a great time at Mining for Memories Convention.  I'm not a newbie any more."
Here are the cards individually.  The entire blog candy package is in my August 16th post.

These first two cards were CASEd from Vicki Burdick.  I changed the colors and placement.  The Perfect Plum, Blush Blossom and Sahara Sand combo came from the Color Coach.  I highly recommend this tool if you have trouble choosing colors for your projects.

This third card was a CASE from another demonstrator, Brandy Cox.  I used her placement of the flowers as my guide for this focal piece.

So thanks so much to those that entered!  I'll be sure to have another Blog Candy event in the near future!!   As always, I'd be happy to help you with ideas and supplies for all your scrap booking and card making projects.

Congratulations Mary Lou!!  Thank you to all those from Mining for Memories Convention 2011 that entered to win.

Butterfly Punch Art

Convention is over, so it's time to share some of the items I had on display at my Stampin' Up! table.

A couple of friends and myself have a new found interest in punch art.  This little gal was created as a birthday card for Lori, one of these friends.  The paper for this first one is from the DSP that is available as a hostess selection, called Cheerful Treat.

When I brought the first card to show my daughter, my granddaughter wanted to hold it.  I couldn't let her play with it (she's 2!) so I told her I'd make her one.  The background paper is from the now retired Ice Cream Parlor.

Well, my grandson (age 4) was recovering from heart surgery and not well at that time, so I couldn't leave him out, so I made him one too!!

My daughter needed a birthday card for a friend's little girl so...okay...  I'll make one for her too!!

I've got a few more ready to assemble and then I think it's time to move on to the next punch art!

This was a paid tutorial from Kim Score of Paper Punch Addiction.

My Friend - July Customer Order Thank You

My Friend stamp set is new to the 2011/2012 Idea Book and Catalogue.  I chose it to do thank you cards for my recent workshop orders.  Seems I was having a little bit of "indecision" going on when making these.  I just could not make up my mind on ribbon color and matting sizes.  So I just kept changing them.  I did 9 cards in all and I think only two are the same.  A few of them have Rich Razzleberry card bases.
I love the pumpkin pie 3/8" taffeta ribbon.  I actually just realized when doing this post that both the pumpkin pie and old olive are not in the new catalogue...oops.

I used Rich Razzleberry, Pumpkin Pie and Old Olive markers and colored directly onto the stamp.  It was fun to do, but does take a little bit of time if you are doing multiple cards.

So, now I have to get busy getting ready for Red Lake's Mining for Memories Convention in August.  It's coming up quick!!
