Stylish Blogger Award....Imagine That!!

I was so surprised to received this lovely Stylish Blogger Award.  I have never spoken or met any other blogger in the paper crafting world, so this is quite fun.

I received this award from
http://madewonderful.blogspot.com/
She has tons of fun cards and projects.  Great blog Melissa!  Thank you so much for choosing me as one of the 8 recipients.

Here's what I have to do...

1.  Thank the person who gave this award to me and link it back to their blog (see above link)

2.  Share 8 things about yourself.

3.  Pass this award to 8 others individuals that I have recently discovered.

4.  Leave a comment so they can pass along the recognition.

8 things about myself:

1.  I live in a small gold mining community in Northwestern Ontario.

2.  I worked for Scotiabank for 17 years until my retirement in October.

3.  I have two wonderful daughters.  One lives at their fishing camp here in Red Lake, the other at their fruit orchard in the Niagara area.  Fish or apples anyone?

4.  I have five beautiful grandchildren.  Three boys and two girls.  They are all delightful!!

5.  I enjoy crime shows and hate reality television.

6.  I signed up for our community's Biggest Loser (Lifestyle) Challenge and am now committed to six months of healthy living...wish me luck!! (What was I thinking?!)

7.  I was introduced to Stampin' Up! through my daughters.  My oldest told my youngest about Stampin' Up!, who then signed up as a demonstrator without knowing anything about stamping.  When she decided not to be an active demonstrator, I decided to make it part of my retirement.  It's all their fault!!

8.  Sometimes I have a bit of a problem with motivation, so I started a blog to make sure I started and finished my projects.

I've been following a number of blogs thanks to Stampin' Connection and they are all so fun!!

These are the ones I have chosen to extend this award to....

I just started a daytime class for Clean and Simple Cards.  This is one of the cards we did, based on the clean and simple stamping blog, FTL #127.  I think they had fun...I've even challenged them to go home and make a card on their own using this layout!  Can't wait to see what they come up with.

This is CAS FTL127 - always a great starting point when your mojo needs a kick start!

Stamp Sets:  Greenhouse Garden, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper:  Whisper White, Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive
Ink:  Pretty in Pink, Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry, Melon Mambo, Peach Parfait, Pumpkin Pie

Happy Stamping!

12 X 12 DSP Purses

REALLY fun to make!!  Use DSP or cardstock.  The purses are large enough to hold a few cards.
I did a class on these purses.  I provided a bunch of choices of DSP both retired and current.  The first group just happened to choose retired, but the second group did have some current.  But I forgot to get pictures of the 2nd class....drat!!

The first two purses were my sample ones that I made.  It was great to use up some retired stuff.

Sheila's purse!  I love the bright colors.  Yes, we know that the birds are upside down!

Lori's purse.  The colors are way off here...the colors are gorgeous IRL.

Tammy's purse!  Isn't it fun with the polka dots?!

Sorry Karen, yours is missing...I thought I had a shot of yours!!

Accessories:  Fun Flowers die, buttons, brads, round tab punch.

Thanks for stopping by!

Concord Crush Baroque Motif

This is one of the cards from a workshop I did yesterday.  A couple of days before the workshop, I heard that one of the attendees didn't know what to do with with the square medallion stamp in this set...so I thought I'd play around and this is the card I ended up with.  I liked it, so decided we would make one at the workshop.

I was hoping the photo would show a little bit of how the paper shimmers....I used Shimmery White card stock and it adds a nice bit of elegance to this card.  The little medallion piece was embossed in white and then I added Dazzling Diamonds glitter while it was still wet.  The square lattice embossing folder adds some texture; dimensionals were used to give it some depth.  The horizontal accent strip was made with the dotted scalloped ribbon punch.
It was a fun morning!!  When I got home, I made a set of five of these to fit in an A2 card box.  I think the ladies inspired me to get productive!!

That's One BRIGHT Quilt!!

A quilt I finally finished for one of my grandsons.  This is such a simple pattern, yet it was a year and a half in the making!

I didn't realize 'til I uploaded these that I suppose I should have put a small border between the pieced section and the borders.  The orange touches the orange on the left side, which is fine, but the right side doesn't have them!  Think he will care!?

Close up of pattern.  My friend Lori quilted it for me!  Thanks Lori!

Orchid Opulence Wedding

A wedding card for a sweet bride, made to go with the colors in the bride's invitation.  Pretty and simple!  I dyed the non-Stampin' Up! flower with retired Orchid Opulence re-inker and used a couple of embossing folders to give it some elegance.  Always happy when that retired stuff comes in handy!!  A little oversight...there is a tiny pearl tuck in left corner area that I didn't notice, til it was too late!!  Can you see it?!

I spent a little time in Photoshop thanks to the two videos of Ilina Crouse from Stampin' Connection.  I didn't manage all the tips, but was thrilled to learn how to easily change the background to a solid color and add a watermark.  A few glitches and still more wrinkles to iron out, but happy with what I managed to "retain"!!

Thanks for stopping by!!
